Plastic Oceans has made it its mission to raise awareness of the problem of plastic pollution and promote sustainable communities across Europe. Founded as a nonprofit organisation in the USA, the foundation’s global goal is to end plastic pollution and foster sustainable habitats worldwide. At a local level, they take action through their branches Plastic Oceans Canada, Plastic Oceans Chile, Plastic Oceans Europe, and Plastic Oceans Mexico. The organisation aims to drive global change based on four pillars: education, activism, advocacy, and science.
In Europe, they focus particularly on the following three projects: Blue Communities, Blue Schools, and Rethink.Refill. These programs cover a wide range of environmental issues that we face today. For example, Rethink.Refill is an educational program that engages young people in taking responsibility, prevents plastic pollution, and provides clean drinking water to schools worldwide. The project includes providing water refill stations and reusable bottles at schools, among other initiatives.

Atmosfair
The company atmosfair gGmbH (a non-profit limited liability company) is a climate protection organization that offers compensation for greenhouse gas emissions. The company specializes in offsetting emissions generated by mobility, with a particular focus on air travel. It is important to know that atmosfair is funded exclusively through donations, with a maximum of 10% of these funds used for administration, public relations, and customer support. Within the gGmbH, no profit motives are pursued. Any so-called profit is fully dedicated to charitable purposes, in this case, climate protection.
With the donations generated, the company develops, operates, and supports climate protection projects, for example by expanding renewable energy in the Global South. Additionally, the company advises businesses and institutions on sustainable practices and CO₂ reduction, and conducts environmental education in German schools to raise climate awareness among primary school children.
