Axel was the perfect skipper for my first sailing holiday. Extremely competent, very friendly and fun to be around. We had such a great time that I already want to book the next tour. Would definitely recommend sailwithus and Axel to anyone looking for a fantastic sailing experience!
Can recommend

To be repeated!

Caribbean sailing area – incomparable beauty

How many times have you read in a description of a possible next sailing trip that the Caribbean feeling is just around the corner or just a few hours away? We offer you a trip right in the Caribbean. White beaches, turquoise blue sea, numerous wonderful harbors, untouched bays, palm trees, coconuts and much more. You can experience all this and much more on your next Caribbean trip. Add to that the unique sailing experience with a friendly crew and some travelers who want the same thing as you. A sailing vacation in paradise!

The unique starting port of Martinique

Your unforgettable sailing trip in the Caribbean begins in the port of Martinique. The small island is part of the French overseas department and belongs to the Lesser Antilles archipelago. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the islands of Barbados, Guadeloupe and Dominica.

Entering the Caribbean is easy by plane. Once you arrive at the airport, you can start your journey to the island’s port either by cab or minibus.

A tropical paradise

When you arrive in Martinique, you will already have a very good feeling of what to expect on your sailing trip. The island is the ultimate Caribbean dream. You will realize this at the latest when you encounter the island’s picturesque landscape. Tropical palm trees tower everywhere and hummingbirds buzz in the air. Behind the mangrove forests, majestic, densely overgrown mountain ranges rise up and the sweet scent of flowers wafts over the island like a veil. As it is very mountainous due to the almost 1,400-metre-high Montagne Pelée volcano, most beaches offer excellent views of the dense canopy of ancient forests that tower over the island.

Fantastic variety of islands

The sailing vacation of a lifetime begins in Martinique. An impressive spectacle of the Caribbean are the many different islands that are concentrated in a comparatively small area. You should definitely see the islands of the Caribbean once in your life.

From your starting point, you will find the ports of Tobago, St. Lucia or Barbados in the immediate vicinity. No matter where you end up, you won’t be able to get enough of the white beaches and blue sea. The sailing area with its many islands is so dreamy because it can be sailed all year round thanks to the high temperatures. Nevertheless, the period from November to April is particularly ideal for your sailing trip in the Caribbean.

Breathtaking underwater world

Don’t miss the opportunity to take a look into the water. Whether from the boat or up close on a little diving adventure. In the warm waters, it is quite possible that you will see all kinds of exotic animals. Sea turtles or an exotic “brain coral” are just two of the many animal eye-catchers.

An underwater photo of a sea turtle swimming near the seabed, which is covered with sparse sea grass. The turtle's shell is decorated with various patterns and its flippers are outstretched as it moves gracefully through the clear blue water. Nearby, the shadow of a sailing yacht on a cruise casts a fascinating silhouette.

Caribbean sailing trip for everyone

Due to movies and other clichés, the Caribbean islands have a reputation for being stormy seas. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Almost nowhere else in the world will you find such a constant wind as here, which is perfect for sailing beginners. Sailing can definitely still be called sailing here. You only need the motor here to moor at one of the many harbors.

If you book a sailing trip in winter, the Lesser Antilles experience the north-easterly trade winds at this time. The islands that particularly benefit from the north-easterly trade winds include Antigua, Guadeloupe, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago. Traveling to the Caribbean is not just about relaxation, culinary delights and Caribbean music, but also many sailing experiences and nautical miles.

Caribbean climate experience

Probably the biggest difference between the real Caribbean in the Atlantic Ocean and the many Caribbean-like places that seem to be spread all over the world are not the palm trees, the beaches or the water. By far the biggest unique selling point is the unique climate that you can only experience so close to the equator.

Added to this is the incredible diversity, which is reflected above all in the topography and geography. The Caribbean sailing area is divided into two regions. In the north-western part you will find the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The Greater Antilles consist of the more well-known and popularized islands. In contrast, you will find a chain of islands in the Lesser Antilles that make up the very special charm of trips to the Caribbean. The islands are characterized by a tropical rainforest climate. In addition to traditional fishing villages, the unique rainforest and beautiful beaches with bays round off the overall picture.
