Immer wieder gerne!

“A long-awaited dream turned into an unforgettable sailing trip in Croatia, starting from Trogir.
Booking and communication with Sailwithus were easy, fast, and seamless. With wind in our sails every day – whether under the sun or in rough weather – we spent a wonderful week on the yacht with our confident and open-minded skipper Mike and an amazing crew that I won’t forget.
We discovered beautiful bays to anchor and swim in. Culinary-wise, we spoiled each other, as the yacht was equipped with a stove and a grill.
Thanks to Sailwithus, ten wonderful people came together on this trip, spent time with one another, shared laughter and joy, exchanged stories and experiences.
It definitely wasn’t my last trip with Sailwithus.
Ahoi and see you soon,
Birgit”

Insight into the sailing route

On the first day (Saturday), the sailing trip begins in Trogir. The crew gets to know each other, stocks up on groceries, and explores the city. On Sunday, they set sail for Vis and spend the night in Stiniva Bay. On Monday, the third day, they visit the Blue Cave on Biševo and continue sailing to Lastovo. Tuesday’s route takes them from Lastovo to Vela Luka on Korčula. On Wednesday, they arrive at the sun-drenched island of Hvar and explore the harbor of Palmizana. Thursday, the sixth day, is a relaxing one – they sail to Brač and enjoy peaceful hours on the water. On the seventh day (Friday), they return to Trogir and end the day in a cozy restaurant. On the final day (Saturday), they leave the yacht and conclude their sailing holiday.

Possible Itinerary: Discover the Croatia Sailing Trip!

DAY 1 – Saturday

You’re super excited for your sailing holiday. Today, you’re checking in on the yacht in Trogir. It’s early afternoon. Between 2 and 4 p.m., you meet your crew, do the shopping for the week, and get everything organized. After 5 p.m., it’s time to check in on the yacht.
Then you explore this beautiful city, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. In the evening, you head to a typical Croatian restaurant and stroll through the old town. Of course, you’ll enjoy a “pre-dinner cocktail” in a cozy little bar.

A group of people is floating on a colorful pool float in the clear blue ocean water near rocky cliffs, smiling and enjoying a sunny day on a sailing yacht.

DAY 2 – Sunday

Whether you’re an experienced sailor or a beginner – you sail relaxedly with your skipper toward Vis. The Croatian island lies off the Dalmatian coast and looks truly romantic with its small Stiniva Bay. Amazing! You dive straight into the crystal-clear water.
The skipper just mentioned that you’ll be spending the night in this bay under a sky full of stars. “Perfect,” you think, and take in the beauty of the surrounding nature in complete peace.

Aerial view of two sailboats, including a catamaran, anchored in a peaceful bay with clear blue water, surrounded by lush green hills.

DAY 3 – Monday

Today is just as relaxed as the day before. You’re only sailing a short distance. From afar, you already spot the “Blue Cave,” a stunning sea cave on the eastern side of the island of Biševo. A quick stop to explore – then the journey continues toward Lastovo.
This inhabited Croatian island is the furthest from the mainland, which is one reason why its nature remains nearly untouched. The rugged, hilly landscape immediately captivates you.

Two people are riding a scooter along a country road surrounded by greenery and rolling hills. The person in front is wearing a yellow shirt and a helmet with sunglasses, while the person behind is also wearing a helmet and glasses to shield themselves from the early morning sun. Their carefree ride brings back memories of past sailing holidays.

DAY 4 – Tuesday

Today, your sailing holiday in Croatia takes you from Lastovo to the west side of the island of Korčula, to the charming town of Vela Luka. This Adriatic island is lovingly referred to as the “black Corfu of Croatia.”
Picturesque beaches, dense pine and oak forests, a historic old town with quaint alleys, and plenty of culture and activities make it a real insider tip.
Feeling like a fun bike ride? You opt for a scooter tour across the island’s wild and beautiful landscape.

DAY 5 – Wednesday

Your day’s leg takes you to the sun-drenched island of Hvar. You dock in the harbor of Palmizana and head off for a little city trip. In Hvar’s harbor, you find a cozy restaurant—perfect for dinner later.
Then it’s time to dive into the nightlife! A water taxi takes you to one of Europe’s most iconic beach clubs: the Carpe Diem Club. Dancing, glamour, and good vibes all around. And if you need to cool off? Just head down to the club’s very own beach!

Aerial view of three sailboats moored close together near a rocky coastline in clear, turquoise water. People can be seen on the decks, enjoying their sailing holiday.

DAY 6 – Thursday

“I am sailing, I am sailing” – today’s sailing trip reminds you of one of Rod Stewart’s most famous songs. You feel the gentle sea breeze, a sense of freedom, and enjoy wonderful hours under sail on your way to the island of Brač.
There’s plenty of time to relax – and for refreshing swim stops along the way. Your skipper scouts out a quiet bay. Found it! You drop anchor and head off for a little trip ashore.

A tranquil bay with turquoise water, surrounded by lush greenery and cliffs. Several sailboats are anchored near the shore under a clear blue sky.

DAY 7 – Friday

You can hardly wait: today you’re sailing back to one of the most well-known marinas – the port of Trogir, one of the largest charter bases in Dalmatia.
After docking between 3 and 6 p.m., you and your crew find a cozy little restaurant with outdoor tables in a picturesque alley. Of course, you take the chance to enjoy some delicious Mediterranean fish dishes.
You’ve experienced so much during this sailing holiday – and you’re heading home with a suitcase full of great stories.

Two women sit on the edge of a catamaran, gazing out at the calm blue sea and a rocky island in the distance, suggesting a peaceful day of sailing.

DAY 8 – Saturday

Your beautiful sailing holiday in Croatia is now truly coming to an end. You packed your things yesterday, as you’ll be leaving the yacht by 9 a.m. at the latest today.
One last time, you lift your face to the sun and look out toward the horizon: “Goodbye, sailwithus!”
You’re no longer a sailing beginner. But even as an experienced sailor, you’ve thoroughly enjoyed the “Pearl of the Mediterranean.”

Arrival and departure

Planning your next trip to Zagreb, Dubrovnik, or maybe Split? With Sailwithus, you’ll discover the very best of Croatia! Pack a few euros and set off from Germany – for this Croatia sailing trip, you’ll fly, for example, to Split. Just about six kilometers from Split Airport lies Trogir, where the crew meets at the marina on Saturdays between 2 and 4 p.m.
If you’re arriving later, no problem – just let your fellow sailors know in advance via the WhatsApp group we’ll create for your trip. From the charming harbor town of Trogir, we set sail – starting as early as May and June.

The easiest way to get there from Split Airport is by taxi. Of course, you can also travel to the marina – or in other words, the harbor – by car. You can safely park your vehicle directly at the marina.
You’ll receive detailed harbor information and all the key details about your trip during the week before your sailing adventure begins.

For a relaxed end to your sailing trip, you’ll return to Trogir the evening before between 3 and 6 p.m. Then it’s time to enjoy one last unforgettable evening with your fellow sailors before leaving the yacht by 9 a.m. on Saturday at the latest.

So much in advance about the time zone: there is no time difference between Germany and Croatia. If you would like to add some “before” or “after” to your sailing vacation in Croatia, Dubrovnik Airport, Zagreb Airport, Osijek Airport, Zadar Airport, Rijeka Airport or the Croatian airport in Pula are other airports you can choose during the summer months.

Croatian islands or the land of a hundred islands

You’ve successfully entered Croatia, a member of the European Union. However, even though Croatia is part of the EU, the euro hasn’t yet been adopted as the official currency, and the Croatian kuna is still in use — but that’s another story.
Right now, you’re curious about what the Balkan Peninsula has to offer. The southern route through Croatia takes you to the true island gems of the Kornati Archipelago. Though you’re traveling through southern Europe, the crystal-clear, turquoise waters on a secluded beach far from the crowds look like something straight out of a postcard!
The green islands with olive groves and wild rosemary, or the lively towns full of festivals and events, give you that extra exotic holiday feeling.
You may have heard of the Istrian Peninsula — the largest peninsula on the northern Adriatic. Its port city Rijeka, located in Kvarner Bay, attracts people from all over the world. The contrasts between remote islands like the green little island of Rab or Krk and the vibrant city life are truly impressive.

Regions of Croatia: Fascinating Holiday Contrasts

Some people rave about Central Croatia when referring to the region nestled between the Alps, the Dinaric mountain range, and the Pannonian Plain. Here too, the mix of relaxation and fun – or peaceful nature and lively city life – gives your dream trip its special charm.
But that’s not all. This part of Croatia always offers something new to discover – like the many larger rivers such as the Drava, or the rolling hills covered with vineyards.
Further south, in Southern Dalmatia, you’ll be amazed by the diversity of bays and landscapes: sometimes you anchor along rocky coastlines, other times at pebble beaches, and occasionally – though rarely – you may even find a secluded sandy bay.
Often, these beaches are framed by pine forests or fragrant Mediterranean shrubs growing all along Croatia’s coast.
And finally, Istria’s beaches invite you to unwind and enjoy sunny days filled with swimming, snorkeling, and pure relaxation.

Culinary Highlights

In Croatia, there are many Mediterranean specialties waiting to be discovered. As true Croatia sailors, we cook a lot on board ourselves—but we also love exploring the Adriatic coastal region and its wide variety of traditional restaurants and local eateries.
Well-known far beyond the region are sheep’s cheese with olives, Istrian prosciutto, and the black risotto called Crni rižot.
Grilled fish and calamari are classic Croatian dishes, and local schnapps is also a typical treat. Tourists especially enjoy Ćevapčići, grilled minced meat rolls, and Ajvar, a delicious sauce made from eggplants, peppers, and chili peppers.

From Split: Sun All the Way

Thanks to the continental climate, the weather is on your side: all summer long, Croatia offers sunshine, dry days, and pleasant temperatures between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius. Wind conditions are calm – the perfect setting to escape the daily rush and simply enjoy each day as it comes.
Just throw on your swimwear and let your soul unwind while sailing on the yacht. Sip a cool drink in a shady spot on deck, sail past rugged white limestone cliffs and rolling green hills, and in the evening, take in the sunset in peace and quiet.
You’ll feel it: it’s still pleasantly warm outside, perfect for spending time on deck. Along the way, you’ll likely spot one or two Blue Flags – a sign of clean seas and well-kept beaches.

Dialing code 00385: Hello, sunshine!

The Republic of Croatia has three distinct climate zones: Dalmatia experiences a Mediterranean climate. In the northeast and eastern parts of the country, the continental climate causes large temperature variations between winter and summer. Finally, the Dinaric mountain region separates these two climate zones with a mountainous climate characterized by short summers and long winters.

Back to the wind—more precisely, the fair-weather wind. Especially if you’re new to sailing, you’ll find ideal wind conditions when sailing in Croatia.
In summer, the refreshing Maestral breeze blows pleasantly from the northwest across the Adriatic, while the gentle Burin wind comes from the mainland. During the day, winds can sometimes reach up to force five on the Beaufort scale.
In the evenings and at night, the wind calms down again as you anchor. Occasionally, you might also experience the Jugo, a warm south wind, or the Bora, blowing from the northeast.

Your sailing holiday in Croatia begins

Thousands of tourists can’t be wrong: you’re exploring a picture-perfect corner of the world filled with countless highlights. Your experienced skipper navigates you safely through the island maze of Dalmatia. While he knows the best insider tips for each day’s route and will set the course with you at the start of the sailing trip, wait—if you feel like doing something different or taking on bigger adventures along the way and the wind conditions allow it—so what!
Your sailing trip is a unique adventure. Sailing in Croatia means actively participating and creating many beautiful moments on the open sea.
By the way, you’ll also improve your sailing know-how along the way, receiving plenty of practical tips from your skipper.

Mini Travel Guide: Popular Holiday Regions in Croatia

Even just the cities alone offer a rich sightseeing experience along Croatia’s coast. Let us introduce you to some of the larger cities, starting with Dubrovnik. With its marble-covered old town, magnificent Renaissance townhouses, and the famous cathedral of Zagreb, Dubrovnik is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia by many tourists.
Split also offers plenty of cultural and historical attractions. Today, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for both culture and nature: the Diocletian’s Palace is one of the best-preserved monuments of Roman architecture in the world. Split’s harbor promenade is also among the most beautiful on the Adriatic Sea.
Croatia’s capital, Zagreb, shows you a different side of the country: everyday Croatian life, best observed from a café on the large Ban Jelačić Square with its iconic fountain. For museum lovers, a visit to the Ethnographic Museum is highly recommended.
If you want to visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, don’t miss the Cathedral of St. James in Šibenik.

Experience Pure Nature in Croatia

Highest mountains, largest islands, and numerous lakes and rivers – your sailing holiday in Croatia offers a diverse natural panorama through its national parks, showcasing impressive flora and fauna.
Besides sea turtles, which you can see at the rehabilitation center in Pula (also home to the Archaeological Museum of Istria), Croatia is also home to the critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal, a species that is strictly protected.

The continental climate brings warm summers, making visits to the nature parks all the more enjoyable.

National and Nature Parks

Whether it’s Paklenica National Park, Krka National Park, Risnjak National Park, Brijuni National Park, Northern Velebit National Park, or Kopački Rit Nature Park – Croatia boasts many stunning national parks.
Foremost among them is Plitvice Lakes National Park, famous for its waterfalls and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for both culture and nature.
For fans of Winnetou, this is a fantastic chance to see the filming locations live. You’ll reach this pristine forest reserve deep in Croatia’s interior.
Also worth visiting is Kornati National Park, part of the Kornati Archipelago.

We warmly recommend three nature parks in Croatia for a memorable excursion:
Mljet National Park on the island of Mljet will surely impress you with its lush green forests and secluded, quiet beaches.
Just a stone’s throw away is Biševo Nature Park, famous for its stunning Blue Cave.
Finally, Lastovo Nature Park is an excellent spot to combine a nature reserve visit with a refreshing swim stop.
Did you know that Croatia, along with Italy and 14 other countries, actively supports the European Green Belt initiative?

Star Gazers and Water Sports in Croatia

In the bays of the Dalmatian islands, the water is so clear that you can observe colorful fish and marine life right from the sailing yacht. Or you can snorkel during the day in the bays. Your skipper knows the best diving spots. Croatia’s underwater world is simply breathtaking—even if you only have basic snorkeling gear like a mask, snorkel, and fins.
Alternatively, you can stroll across the green islands and gather olives or fresh rosemary in the nearly untouched nature—perfect for grilling on the yacht in the evening. The locals are happy to share tips on preparation. This is the best way to truly discover and fall in love with Croatian cuisine.
And the best part, as always, comes last: at night, the starry sky is so clear you can count every single star or read constellations. Just take your mattress, sleep on deck, and enjoy the starry sky.

Country and People

One very important point: during your sailing trip in Croatia, you’ll anchor in bays that are visited only by locals. You’ll discover areas of the country known for their pristine nature.
And even though the standard Croatian language is predominant, conversations quickly spark even off the mobile network grid. Many Croatians proudly share stories about their country, culture, and society, including their traditional folk music, and are happy to offer travel tips—such as where to find secluded bays or small coastal towns with the best local restaurants.

If you love the charm of Croatia, sailing in Greece might be just the thing for you. Here, you’ll enjoy Mediterranean cuisine and can soak up the summer under the warm Mediterranean sun.

Booked. Confirmed. Let’s keep going!

You’ll receive all the information about your holiday destination and the schedule of your sailing trip right after booking. Now you might be wondering: What’s the best way to get there?

You and the other crew members of your sailing trip will travel independently from different cities. If you have booked a sailing holiday in Sardinia, Croatia, or France, driving to the meeting point at the harbor by car is a convenient option. And yes, there are plenty of parking spaces available on site. We will send you detailed directions two days before departure.
