DAY 1 – Saturday
Your sailing holiday with Sailwithus is simple and hassle-free. It starts with your arrival in Corfu. Every Saturday, flights depart from Frankfurt to Corfu. From there, you continue by taxi or bus to Gouvia Marina, the yacht harbor just 15 minutes away. Between 2 and 4 p.m. is the meeting point for your week-long sailing holiday in Corfu! Everyone is excited to explore Corfu without a car. After a quick grocery run with the crew and organizing the upcoming week, check-in on the yacht begins after 5 p.m. You’ll have dinner together and get to know each other before setting sail the next morning.

DAY 2 – Sunday
With four to ten fellow crew members plus a skipper, your sailing trip in Greece begins. By choosing Corfu, you’ve picked a sheltered and lush sailing area. You can hardly wait to reach Paxos, home to some of Greece’s most beautiful grottos. When sailing around Corfu, the Greek island of Paxos is definitely one of the top Corfu tips. You’ll drop anchor right at the pier in a picturesque fishing village.

DAY 3 – Monday
Sailing the Ionian Islands and discovering new picturesque beaches again and again holds a special charm. There are so many beautiful anchorages in hidden bays! Right after breakfast: a jump into the largest pool in the Mediterranean. Then sunbathing or relaxing on deck. Some of you stroll along the lovely fishing harbor. In the evening, you’ll unwind and end the day on the yacht.

DAY 4 – Tuesday
Of course, you’ll enjoy all the benefits of Antipaxos. This small island, with just 120 inhabitants, is famous for its stunning beaches and blue caves—guaranteeing unforgettable holiday moments! Together with your skipper, you’ll discuss which shore excursions to include during your Paxos-Antipaxos boat tour. You all agree: the charming town of Parga is on tomorrow’s itinerary.

DAY 5 – Wednesday
There’s something special about strolling through the cobblestone streets of the town. Almost every corner invites you to visit a church. There’s even a church museum in the center of Parga. Then you’ll hike through olive groves, past watermills and waterfalls, all the way up to the Church of Ai Sostis, which is located in a natural cave. Not far from there is Lichnos Beach.

DAY 6 – Thursday
“Would you like to eat freshly caught fish today at a typical harbor tavern?” the skipper suggests. The Greek coast and its small offshore islands offer so much variety. Time and again, your skipper finds a picturesque bay where you and your fellow crew are all alone. You’ve already shared so many experiences together: diving in hidden grottos, spotting octopus, and with a bit of luck, even a seal or a turtle.

DAY 7 – Friday
With the best Corfu weather, you start your return journey to the yacht marina in Corfu. You take the opportunity to visit the picturesque coastal town of Syvota and Notos Beach in the Bay of Lefkimi. Or would you rather explore the sea bay of Plataria, nestled among green hills, and the fishing village of Sagiada on the Corfu map? No problem! When sailing with Sailwithus, you can coordinate each day’s plan with your skipper.

DAY 8 – Saturday
Now it’s time to say “goodbye” to the Greek island gems Paxos and Antipaxos. But one thing is certain: you want to see more of the Ionian Islands—Lefkada, for example—or other destinations on your sailing trip in Greece. At 9:00 a.m., your crew parts ways, carrying wonderful memories with them. “Will you sail to Corfu again?” someone asks. Why not? Anyone who loves the sea will gladly return here after such a dreamlike week of sailing.

The Ionian Islands stretch along the Greek west coast from Albania down to the Peloponnese. So why choose Corfu? Because from the mainland, Corfu is the perfect starting point to explore culture, beaches, and the stunning turquoise waters of this dream region.
Especially attractive on the route toward Paxos and Antipaxos is the mix of calm coastal waters and more exciting blue-water stretches. Need the ultimate Corfu holiday tips?
Here’s something to start with: by choosing a sailing holiday to Corfu, Greece, you’ve already made the right choice. Some even say that the true beauty of Greece’s 13,000-kilometer coastline and its 2,000 islands can only be discovered by yacht. And that’s true.
With a sailing holiday, you enjoy all the freedom of an individual trip. Whether it’s visiting an ancient castle or fortress during a shore excursion at your own pace, or discovering local tavernas in a quaint fishing harbor while anchoring in a picturesque bay in the evening.
Either way, with your skipper and crew at Sailwithus, you always stay off the beaten path and uncover hidden gems. Paxos and Antipaxos are especially famous for their excellent wines. Beer lovers also won’t be disappointed with the delicious Corfu beers. Get to know Corfu Special, Corfu Bitter, Ionian Pilsner, or Ionian Epos with us!
Tip 1: Natural Beauty Kavos
Among the many Corfu insider tips, some lose their secret charm upon closer look. One such place is the picturesque village of Kavos, also known as Notia Kerkyra (with 685 inhabitants), located right on the beach in the southeast of the island. It used to be a quiet fishing village. Today, Kavos is firmly in the hands of tourism—especially popular with the British—and has turned into a much-visited party hotspot.
Still, this spot in southern Corfu is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and impressive natural mountain landscapes. In fact, you can still discover a Corfu hidden gem with us here if you sail a little further out. About two kilometers from the center, you’ll find Arkoudilas Beach with its stunning natural beach and dramatic cliffs. Or you can sail from here to a lonely island featuring another natural attraction—the Blue Lagoon.
Another still-hidden gem near Kavos is the small fishing village of Sivota.
Tip 2: Visit to a Noble Family in Corfu Town
You’ll get your first impression of Corfu Town as soon as you arrive by plane. With its many green spaces, Corfu Town is said to be one of the most beautiful cities in Greece. So see for yourself and be sure to include a visit to the city center during your Corfu holiday!
Corfu Town, home to around 34,000 people, is manageable in size and is the island’s only city with an airport and a larger port. It’s the island’s capital and its old town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The location of the ancient center on the Kanoni peninsula, surrounded by the Ionian Sea, is truly striking.
With houses, churches, and grand squares over 300 years old, the old town exudes an elegant charm. A visit to Casa Parlante is absolutely worthwhile to follow in the footsteps of an aristocratic family of that era. It’s a small museum that takes you on a journey through the style and life of a manor house around 1800. Each room of this neoclassical building tells a different story of its former noble inhabitants.
Tip 3: Sisi’s Achilleion Palace and the Fortress in Corfu Town
Are there other “most beautiful places in Corfu”? Definitely—the two fortresses in the city center and Empress Sisi’s Achilleion Palace are among them. Few people know that Corfu was one of the favorite travel destinations of Austrian Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sisi. Out of love for this Greek beauty, she even had a palace built there. The Mediterranean climate was hoped to ease her suffering from tuberculosis.
Facing this deadly illness, she named the palace after the dying Achilles: “Achilleion.” A statue adorns the park grounds of this magnificent, renovated estate, which today serves as a museum.
Also highly recommended is a guided tour of the fortresses, which are emblematic of Corfu’s medieval history. From here, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Corfu Town.
The two fortresses were built in the 16th century to provide space and shelter for all the city’s inhabitants. The first fortress still has a surrounding moat. But as the population grew, a second fortress was constructed around 1645, connected to the first by underground tunnels.
Gouvia Marina – popular start and finish harbor
When sailing around Corfu and the Ionian Sea, Gouvia Marina serves as the starting and return point to explore the diverse coastline of Corfu. The destination: the islands of Paxos and Antipaxos. Cultural and natural sights alternate along the way.
Culturally, you’ll notice influences from the Corinthians, Venetians, and British throughout the Ionian Sea region. The area’s natural charm is unforgettable—towering mountain ridges reaching up to 1,300 meters rise steeply along the mainland coast, while pine forests line the shores near sheltered anchorages in idyllic fishing villages.
You might also make a stop in Lefkas with your crew, which is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the Ionian Sea.
Welcome to the realm of Odysseus!
Corfu gained fame not least because of the Greek hero Odysseus, son of the godfather Zeus and Hermes. According to legend—as recounted in Homer’s Iliad—during his journey home, he met Princess Nausicaa in the idyllic bay of Ermones on Corfu’s west coast. The beautiful daughter of the King of the Phaeacians was there with some maidservants washing clothes on the beach. The shipwrecked Odysseus was cared for and clothed. Nausicaa and her father, King Alcinous, then helped Odysseus return to his homeland, the island of Ithaca.
Corfu: Quiet Places
A sailing holiday means relaxing and unwinding. On your Corfu sailing tour, you’ll repeatedly come across peaceful spots, like the fishing village of Lakka north of Paxos. A popular anchorage is the wind-sheltered, horseshoe-shaped bay that serves as a natural harbor. Green hills slope down to the sea, and the romantic evening backdrop with the village’s many lights is perfect for a sundowner or an ouzo on deck of your yacht charter!
On your sailing trip toward Antipaxos, the harbor town of Vónitsa is also worth a visit. You can anchor in a small bay and enjoy the view of the town with its majestic castle backdrop. In the evening, take a stroll along the harbor promenade and watch the setting sun from a quay as it bathes the small town in magical light.
That’s the perfect time to sample local specialties like olives, sheep’s cheese, or cuttlefish at a tavern. Some tavernas are charmingly located right on the beach. Here, you can feast to your heart’s content at great prices and then celebrate a little at the beach bar with the hospitable locals.
