Possible Itinerary for the East Route Tour: Discover the Sailing Trip!

DAY 1 – Saturday
Where’s the shopping list? On the yacht in Fethiye/Göcek, your crew, together with the skipper, plans the sailing trip to Turkey’s eastern coast. For the provisions you’ll gather in the early afternoon, between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, you’ll need a few shopping tips. After that, shopping is done. Check-in is after 5:00 PM. In the evening, head to the harbor. Just a light bite to eat – the Turkish cuisine is perfect for that. Over a glass of wine, you’ll get to know the other crew members. Perfect!

DAY 2 – Sunday
The first sailing maneuvers. The first tacks. Sailing in Turkey is so much fun. If you don’t have sailing experience yet, the skipper will guide you. On the route from Göcek to the Gemiler Islands, swimming stops are planned. You’ll dive into the crystal-clear waters. Pure bliss! A few of your fellow sailors are interested in culture and head ashore to explore the island with its Byzantine church ruins.

DAY 3 – Monday
How cool is that? Your skipper asks whether you’d like to head to the small municipal harbor in the bay of Kalkan or stay overnight in one of the romantic coves on the nearby islands. That’s a decision that needs some careful thought! But one thing’s for sure: no matter where you anchor, a spectacular sunset view and a few sundowners on deck are definitely waiting for you.

DAY 4 – Tuesday
You’ve anchored in the bay of Kalkan. The day is still young, and you take advantage of the peaceful harbor atmosphere to jump into the water before breakfast. Later, you sail a short distance from Kalkan Bay to Kas Harbor. A whole day of swimming fun awaits. Completely relaxed, you lie on the deck, letting your soul unwind. Where better to do this than under a blue sky and deep blue waters at sea?

DAY 5 – Wednesday
Today’s sailing trip takes you to a place from forgotten times. You’ll head towards Kekova. The small island is uninhabited today. Your shore excursion leads you to the famous ruins of ancient Myra near Kekova. A thousand years ago, an earthquake destroyed the city, and much of it sank into the water. Still visible are the ruins of the theater, the rock tombs, and a Christian chapel.

DAY 6 – Thursday
While sailing in Turkey, you’ll discover the gems of the Turkish Riviera. From Kekova, you’ll sail to the bay of Kayaköy, a small village in a rocky mountain valley. During the day, you’ll be on the water, enjoying the wind and waves. The clear turquoise water beckons you. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the secluded bay and drop anchor. You grab your phone: “A fairytale idyll – perfect for a selfie!”

DAY 7 – Friday
Fun sailing from the bay of Kayaköy to the Gulf of Fethiye. Big like! And since you and your fellow sailors have learned so much about sailing in the past few days, today it’s time to show what you’ve learned on your sailing trip in Turkey! The sailing weather is perfect: In the beautifully large bay in the Gulf of Fethiye, the yacht lies calmly on the water. A steady, strong wind is blowing, making it perfect for sailing.

DAY 8 – Saturday
A fantastic week of sailing is coming to an end, during which you’ve seen so much, relaxed, and enjoyed delicious meals. Yesterday, you already packed your things because you’re leaving the yacht by 9:00 AM. From arrival to departure, everything was perfectly organized with sailwithus. You felt safe with your skipper and met some amazing people. You’ll definitely see each other again on the next sailing trip.

Turkey: Love Sails Through the Wind
The Turkish Riviera is home to many small towns and a few larger ports, making a sailing holiday in Turkey perfect for those who prefer individual travel over all-inclusive packages.
The Turkish Riviera refers to an area that stretches from Antalya and Kemer in the west to Cape Anamur in the east. The sailing areas of Bodrum, Marmaris, and Göcek, along with the Gulf of Fethiye, are among the most popular destinations for a sailing holiday from mid-June well into the summer. A great infrastructure for sailors and the Mediterranean climate attract sailors to the Turkish Mediterranean year after year. Your constant travel companion: A touch of the Orient and history flows through this authentic region of Turkey, which you can reach from Dalaman Airport. You will surely fall in love with one of the most beautiful sailing areas. Fun and relaxation are, of course, part of your completely relaxed sailing holiday. Before your vacation begins, you can already take a look at famous places like Izmir and Istanbul via email and Google Earth from Germany, as well as your potential favorite spots along the Turkish coast.

Now discover the most beautiful bays of Turkey in Marmaris!
Marmaris is a small port town in the southwest. Not only does this Turkish destination have a lot to offer, but the region itself is full of variety. For some sailors, the trio of Orhaniye, Marmaris, and Göcek is simply the perfect starting point to discover and fall in love with one of the most stunning sailing areas in Turkey. Whether they come from Greece, Germany, Sardinia, Italy, or Croatia – this Mediterranean destination is very popular with travelers worldwide.
What can you experience in and around Marmaris? Let’s start with the relaxing beach days. Whether it’s April or November, the weather is perfect all year round, allowing you to enjoy a laid-back beach holiday in mild temperatures. The main season for sailors runs from June to September. This includes plenty of water sports opportunities, one of the most beautiful views of the nearby islands along the Marmaris promenade, and many secluded little dream beaches where you can relax. With our yacht charter, you can explore most of them while sailing. The coastline is diverse, with each marina offering its own charm, and the skipper has the best insider tips. How about a hike through the Marmaris National Park, where you might encounter wild foxes and eagles?
Afiyet olsun! The Turkish cuisine greets you!
The Turkish coastline offers so much for us sailors. Chartering a yacht with Sailwithus is the best and most affordable way to experience it. And as you can imagine, sailing and good food go hand in hand. You’re probably familiar with Turkish cuisine from a few restaurants back home, but Dürüm, Kebab, and Lahmacun taste so much better in the local restaurants. It’s customary in Turkey to give a small tip for service. Since the overall income of the waiter also depends on tips, 10 percent of the bill is appropriate. The same guideline applies in bars and clubs.
In addition to the delicious appetizers, which are called Meze here – mainly consisting of spicy dips – you definitely shouldn’t miss a honey-sweet Baklava for dessert, along with wine in the evening – whether red, white, or rosé. Some of the well-known grape varieties in Turkey include Narince, Öküzgözü, Boğazkere, and Kalecik Karası. You should also try Raki – the Turkish national drink – as an aperitif on your yacht before disembarking. The aniseed spirit made from grapes or raisins is known to aid digestion.
Heading further south: Bodrum on the Turkish Aegean!
So, make sure to remember the Dalaman Airport and the journey from Dalaman to Marmaris. But we’re heading further south to Bodrum. It’s one of the best cities to experience the beauty of Turkey while aboard your charter yacht. Bodrum is located on the peninsula of the same name. With over 150 kilometers of coastline, it offers numerous bays where you can anchor all summer long. For some, Bodrum is the St. Tropez of Turkey. Why? Its white limestone facades, beautiful purple bougainvilleas, and the royal blue sea on one side, along with the luxurious marina on the other, create that special atmosphere. Bodrum is also known as the “White City,” reminiscent of the snow-white beaches of Saint Tropez.
Continuing southwest in the sailing area, you’ll reach the town of Fethiye, nestled in a bay. Specifically, it lies in the southern Aegean region, at the Gulf of Fethiye. The most famous of its landmarks are probably the rock tombs above the old town.

A bit of the Caribbean right on Europe’s doorstep.
If you want to see palm-lined beaches, a trip to the Caribbean is the way to go. But if you want to see the most beautiful beaches, just a few flight hours from Germany will take you to the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Between Antalya and Dalaman lies one of them, the Blue Lagoon of Ölüdeniz. Here, you’ll want to reserve a spot on your sailing trip to fully enjoy the beauty of the bay: Picturesque rocks surround your boat, from which you’ll jump into the turquoise-clear water. What’s more beautiful than swimming in the world’s largest pool?
Two more dream beaches – Konyaalti and Lara – can be found in the popular holiday destination of Antalya. Konyaalti Beach stretches for six kilometers, and you and your crew will love it – as long as you don’t mind smooth, light-colored stones and wonderfully shimmering water. Its vastness and the few hotel complexes nearby make it even more special. Experience a relaxed sailing holiday: with sailwithus, it’s like sailing with friends!

The Turkish Aegean – perfect sailing weather.
The wind and weather are just perfect for sailing in Turkey. The weather conditions make sailing possible until mid-September/October and beyond. The Mediterranean climate ensures a very long season, meaning you can set sail as early as April. Among the most famous marinas in this sailing area are Göcek and Fethiye. Viewed through the lens of navigation, the Turkish Aegean is considered one of the easier sailing areas: the waters are well protected, and the distances between bays and harbors for anchoring are manageable. Especially pleasant in the summer is the Meltemi wind, which brings cool air with low humidity from the north. The Turkish coast is simply a dream!

Sailing between ancient cities and modern coastal landscapes.
Orhaniye, Marmaris, Göcek, Fethiye – with these stops, you’ll experience the unique charm of Turkey in just one week. On one side, you’ll find untouched nature with crystal-clear waters, beautiful beaches, and secluded coves, along with the occasional uninhabited island. On the other side, you can marvel at the lush vegetation of the Turkish coastline. This sailing area is suitable for experienced sailors as well as for those new to sailing or families. The latter typically sail in July and August, as a reliable wind provides ideal sailing conditions. In spring or autumn, however, the focus is more on sporty sailing.

If you’re interested in history, the Turkish Aegean has plenty to offer as well: Troy, Pergamon, and Ephesus are probably the most significant ancient sites. Visiting their ruins leaves an unforgettable impression. No other sailing areas come close to the significance and density of ancient landmarks here – except for Greece. So, make sure to gather all the important information before your sailing holiday begins, so you’re already familiar with the locations on the map, ensuring your yacht charter becomes a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
