Possible itinerary for the Phuket tour: Discover the sailing trip!

DAY 1 – Saturday
Tropical air greets you. Your skipper is already on board. A brief introduction takes place between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Then you go shopping to decide freely where you want to anchor during the sailing trip. Fresh fish is bought from the fishermen. After 5:00 PM, check-in takes place, and you get to know your fellow sailors properly. First commonalities – thumbs up! On your sailing holiday, you usually have breakfast on the yacht. During shore excursions, you enjoy the delicious local cuisine.

DAY 2 – Sunday
Sailing briefing for everyone with the essential basics. A bit of technical talk with the skipper. As part of the crew, you’ll put your sailing skills into practice. You set off towards the northern Andaman Sea. The goal: the beautiful Phang Nga Bay with hundreds of small islands. You buy fresh seafood during a shore excursion. Look, there are fishermen with their fresh catch on a longtail boat!

DAY 3 – Monday
Even James Bond used the lush limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay as a movie backdrop. A fantastic natural spectacle that you’ll explore today! Lagoons and mangrove forests shape the landscape, as well as hidden caves, dreamy beaches, and turquoise waters. You sail further towards Krabi to Ao Nang. Since night sailing is prohibited here, you’ll reach your anchorage in the late afternoon.

DAY 4 – Tuesday
Another highlight is the coastal province of Krabi on the southern west coast of Thailand: stunning waterfalls and beaches that are part of a national park. Krabi is known for its tropical, colorful underwater world. You’re thrilled by the wonderful water temperature and snorkel in this ideal sailing area. Later, you and the entire crew relax on the beach. This day is so wonderful, so beautiful – it feels like there should be music.

DAY 5 – Wednesday
Sailing in Thailand: Today, you set sail together and head towards Koh Lanta, south of Krabi. For some, it is the most beautiful island in Thailand, with its mysterious caves, crystal-clear turquoise water, and snow-white dream beaches. What do you think? You anchor in idyllic coves, surrounded by lush green mountains. The island is a small gem. It’s hard to leave and continue sailing. . .

DAY 6 – Thursday
A new adventure awaits you on your sailing holiday in Thailand. The paradisiacal twin islands of Koh Rok Nok are on the route. The two islands are separated by a narrow channel. Right in between is the best anchorage spot. Of course, you anchor exactly there! For a round of snorkeling and to see colorful fish, you jump into the water and then simply float on the crystal-clear water until the sun sets.

DAY 7 – Friday
Did you know that Leonardo DiCaprio jumped into the sea in the movie “The Beach” against the stunning natural backdrop of Thailand? It was the Phi Phi Islands. Today, you sail to Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. They are considered some of the most beautiful islands in the world. Take a look: Discover breathtaking spots and make the most of the perfect snorkeling conditions with wonderful water temperatures! Before returning to the yacht, you buy fresh fruit at the market.

DAY 8 – Saturday
Sniff, sniff – it’s time to say goodbye to your dream holiday in Thailand, to your skipper or skipper, your crew, new friends, and your home for the past 8 days, the modern sailing yacht. You’ve always felt safe. Simply: thumbs up emoji! One of your fellow sailors doesn’t want to fly back to Germany yet and wants to escape the cold a little longer. So, he extends his trip by a few days, even an additional week. Very, very good idea!

Arrival and departure
For your sailing trip, it’s best to choose a direct flight from Germany to the paradisiacal Thailand. As soon as you arrive at Phuket International Airport, tropical warm air will greet you. From the airport, you will travel independently by taxi to Yacht Haven Marina in the northern part of Phuket. There, the crew will meet between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, but you can adjust your arrival time as needed, and don’t have to worry about arriving later. Feel free to discuss your arrival with your fellow sailors on WhatsApp beforehand. We will create a group for this in the week prior to your trip. You will also receive detailed harbor information from us a few days before.
On Friday, between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, you will return to the marina in Phuket. Feel free to stay the last night on board and then leave the yacht together on Saturday at 9:00 AM.
Sailing Thailand: Come to the Land of Smiles – from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi!
800 kilometers north of the equator lies your sailing area in Phuket and the Andaman Sea in the south of Thailand. The sailing trip takes you to the most beautiful places that you’ve probably only seen in James Bond movies. Now you’re here: on Ko Phi Phi, the mega-island for snorkelers and divers in the Andaman Sea. The famous Maya Bay, where the film “The Beach” was shot, is located here. So, let your soul relax on the white sand beach and set off on foot to explore! You’ll marvel at the lush green mountain slopes and take the time to get to know the land and its people. Because on your sailing holiday, you have the complete package:
Hospitality, a relaxed Buddhist tradition, stunning islands with lush green mountains and pearl-white sandy beaches as far as the eye can see. In the region south of Phuket, you’ll still discover secluded spots on your sailing trip. Inland, the rainforest offers you an impressive nature experience.

Phuket Airport. Next stop: the most beautiful islands.
Sailing with a skipper on a yacht in Thailand offers you an incredibly beautiful and untouched island world. Especially around Phuket, in the turquoise sea, there are countless islands. You’ll need a few sailing trips to visit them all. The many small islands in the Andaman Sea – about 130 islands in total – are close enough to each other, so alongside sailing in Thailand, you’ll have plenty of time to relax and explore. Some islands are inhabited, others are not. On palm-lined sandy beaches, you can comfortably dip your toes in the water.

Phuket is often referred to as the Pearl of the Andaman Sea. When you stand on the coast and gaze at the rugged limestone cliffs and the secluded bays with fine, almost soft sand, you’ll immediately know why. We’ve already introduced you to Koh Phi Phi. Very close by is another Koh (Thai for island), Koh Lanta. Here, you can enjoy the best cuisine ever in the villages. Some even rave about the best Thai food in all of Southeast Asia.
Book a holiday with exotic culture.
The Kingdom of Thailand is known for the friendliness of its people. Most of them live according to Buddhist traditions. A small insight into Thai culture is offered by the temple complexes on Phuket. Please enter the temples respectfully and with appropriate clothing: Your legs and shoulders must always be covered, and you must leave your shoes outside the door when entering.
And here’s another encounter that might happen to you: Don’t be surprised if you come across a monitor lizard during one of your shore excursions in Thailand! While the lizard is large, it is friendly towards humans and relaxes just as comfortably as you do on the beach. On a tour through the rainforest, you’ll reach exciting viewpoints that offer a fantastic view of the island’s bay: You’ll see how the fishermen live in their stilt houses and how they head out to sea in their longtail boats, returning to their villages with freshly caught seafood and fish. In the charming beach bars, there are delicious coconuts to drink – just in case you don’t have a machete to open them yourself.

Sailing in Krabi and Koh Rok Nok
Keep this in mind: On your journey with your crew aboard, there’s no way around the sailing area of Krabi. The region has more to offer than just stunning beaches: secluded waterfalls, limestone caves, and most of Krabi is designated as a national park – including beaches and over 80 small islands. With your yacht charter, you have the opportunity to snorkel from the ship, dive, or sail directly to the Ao Nang and Rai Ley beaches. And you won’t believe it: For climbers, this spot is high on the list. After all, there are several hundred established routes here. You can even rent equipment on-site. Either way, your Thailand adventure can begin!
A few nautical miles from Phuket lie the famous twin islands of Koh Rok Nok. They are separated by only a channel, and the water here is so crystal clear that you definitely should view the world from this perspective. Because the major tourist attractions – with the exception of a shrine to a deity – are not found here. Therefore, there are almost no tourists visiting this area.
From Coconut, Turtle, and Elephant Islands
Their names are just as exotic as the islands themselves. And unfortunately, you can’t discover everything in just one week. But when sailing in Thailand, the trips to Ko Samui (Coconut Island) are definitely worth it. It’s an archipelago with over 80 islands, complete with palm trees, powdery beaches, rocky formations, and heavenly bathing coves. Bangkok is about 560 kilometers from Ko Samui. However, just 35 nautical miles further is Koh Tao (Turtle Island), which is perfect for diving. The ocean here is very clean, and there are 24 dive sites near the island, where you can enjoy crystal-clear visibility. The underwater world is filled with colorful coral reefs, where you can explore both hard and soft corals. You might also spot a sea turtle, sharks, rays, barracudas, or pufferfish, as beautiful schools of fish swim past. Finally, near the border to Cambodia, you’ll find Koh Chang (Elephant Island), where you’ll be enchanted by its waterfalls and one of the best-preserved tropical rainforests in Asia.

Where does the wind come from when sailing in Thailand?
Admittedly, the climate is very humid and warm, much like the Seychelles. However, especially during the dry season, the lighter winds make for a relaxed sailing trip, whether on a Lagoon catamaran or by chartering a yacht with a double cabin & co. Combined with the slow current in the Gulf and pleasant temperatures around 25°C, this weather guarantees a perfect climate for your trips. During the rainy season, from March to October or November, stronger winds offer an adventure for experienced sailors. Anchoring is not always possible due to the winds. However, the weather is tropical all year round, meaning it’s humid and warm, attracting both vacationers and new sailors as well as experienced sailors from around the world. Our tip: It’s worth paying attention to the different climate zones before setting off so you can choose the ideal dates for your trip.
Prices sailing Thailand
Before you send an inquiry, the question of course is: What does a holiday in Thailand cost? Clearly, there are price differences between Greece and the Caribbean. That’s something you can figure out without much research. But what about comparing popular holiday destinations like Croatia, Corsica, the Canary Islands, or the Baltic Sea to a trip to Phuket Airport? Flights and the yacht charter itself are the two main expenses for a holiday in Thailand. The rest is quite manageable: accommodation and food are already taken care of with Sailwithus, as you and the crew go shopping together on the first day of your sailing holiday and then cook a lot in the on-board kitchen.
You should definitely try the local food. Small treats like Pad Thai (fried Thai noodles), Tom Yam Kung (a sour and spicy soup), and Saté skewers can be found for just a few Baht, Thailand’s official currency, which is about 50 cents. Even in local restaurants, dinner is affordable. A nice fruit cup for dessert and drinks like Chang or Singha beer cost around 1.50 euros. Transportation options like the tuk tuk or taxi might come in handy occasionally, but they are also affordable at about 20 cents per kilometer. Leisure activities like visiting a national park, a temple, or getting a massage cost between one and eight euros.
